On Monday, Mike and I were privileged to go back to the doctor to have another look at Baby Calder. (We get to be "special" patients this time around.)
And just look what we saw! Baby has gone from looking like a peanut to having distinguishable features. Can you see his/her arms and legs? (If not, let me help you out - legs are to the left, and arms are up by the head to the right.) I could not believe how much Baby has grown, even though he/she is just the size of a lime.
The highlight of the visit, of course, was seeing Baby's heart beat again (168 bpm), but we were also surprised to find out that he/she is already a very good listener and extremely obedient. Before our appointment, Mike and I told Baby to "show off" for the doctor, and that he/she did! Although our idea of "showing off" was focused on our little one showing his/her heartbeat, Baby decided to show us how he/she could kick, wave his/her arms, and squirm about.
What a joy! Just seeing those tiny arms waving at us, I felt like he/she was saying, "Hi Mom! Hi Dad! Here I am!"
It was such a reassurance, that for the first time in this pregnancy I felt some of my fears start to slip away.
And pure joy begin to take root.
