Because of our loss of the twins, my doctor has labeled me as a high risk patient and extra precautions are being taken to ensure that I can carry this baby as long as possible (ideally, full term). Even though we don't have a concrete reason as to why I went into labor so early with the twins, Dr. B thinks it is most likely that I could have an incompetent cervix.
So beginning this week, we will go in weekly to look at my cervix by ultrasound to make sure that it is not shortening or opening. The results of this week's appointment were very good. While my cervix has shortened a smidgen (as in a couple of mm), there were no signs of it opening. Dr. B said she was "Happy! Happy! Happy!" with the way it looked. It is so nice to keep being reassured that everything is going well!
Our sonogram also delivered another bit of good news. We were very surprised to find out a little something about our baby. Can you guess what it is? Check back tomorrow to find out!
