Operation Bikini Body

A few months ago, I gave myself a personal challenge: To get myself into shape so that I could confidently wear a bikini when we went to Hawaii.

The purpose of this operation was twofold. 1) It was an incentive to make healthy choices about food and exercise. 2) It was a distraction from my all encompassing thoughts about trying to have a baby.

Like all things I do, I started out strong. I gave up junk food, and ate an assortment of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. I woke up before dawn so that Jillian Michaels could kick my butt through her workout video. And my sister even gave me several of her two piece swimsuits for inspiration.

But then a couple slips of the diet led to the abandonment the healthy eating. And several mornings sleeping in led to the demise of the 6am workouts.

And the end result: No bikini body for Hawaii.

But do you know what? I don't really care that I miserably failed at my challenge. Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter which swimsuit I have to conceal my flabby tummy in, I AM STILL GOING TO HAWAII!!!

And, I have come up with a new, more attainable challenge for the remainder of the month:

Operation Fat and Happy in Maui
